Unlimited Safety Services (USS), a member of the North West Fire Rescue Group, provides specialized emergency response solutions to industry, municipalities, and government agencies throughout Western Canada.

Position Summary
The Industrial Firefighter / Emergency Medical Responder provides emergency response, fire suppression, rescue services, emergency medical coverage, hazard mitigation, and industrial safety support throughout Alberta and Western Canada.
Successful candidates perform effectively under pressure, work safely in demanding environments, and demonstrate professionalism, teamwork, and sound judgment in every deployment.
Both Full-Time and Casual opportunities are available.
Key Responsibilities:
Emergency Response:
- Respond to industrial and emergency incidents.
- Perform structural and industrial fire suppression.
- Participate in wildland firefighting operations.
- Conduct scene size-ups and hazard assessments.
- Assist with incident stabilization.
Emergency Medical Services:
- Provide emergency medical coverage at industrial worksites.
- Deliver patient care within your certification level.
- Complete patient care documentation.
- Coordinate with local EMS agencies when required.
Rescue Operations:
- Participate in confined space rescue.
- Assist with vehicle extrication.
- Support technical rescue operations.
- Safely operate specialized rescue equipment.
Equipment & Operations:
- Inspect emergency apparatus and equipment.
- Maintain PPE and operational readiness.
- Assist with inventory management.
- Complete operational documentation.
Safety & Compliance:
- Follow USS Standard Operating Guidelines.
- Comply with Alberta Occupational Health & Safety legislation.
- Adhere to client-specific safety procedures.
- Participate in ongoing training and safety meetings.
Physical Requirements:
Applicants must be capable of:
- Wearing structural PPE and SCBA for extended periods.
- Working in extreme weather conditions.
- Performing effectively in high-stress emergency environments.
- Lifting and carrying up to 45 kg (100 lbs.)
- Climbing ladders and working at heights.
- Working in confined spaces and low-visibility conditions.
- Performing physically demanding work while wearing approximately 22 kg (50 lbs.) of protective equipment.
- Medical clearance may be required prior to employment.
Minimum Qualifications:
Firefighter Applicants:
- NFPA 1001 Level I and/or II
- NFPA 1072 (or NFPA 472) Hazardous Materials Awareness & Operations
- Current CPR Certification
- ICS 100
- Valid Alberta Driver's License
- Standard First Aid, EMR, or higher medical certification.
Medical Applicants:
- EMR, PCP, ACP, or equivalent certification.
- Current Alberta College of Paramedics registration (where applicable).
- Current CPR Certification.
- Valid Driver's License.
Required Safety Certifications:
- H₂S Alive
- WHMIS
- TDG
- CSO (Common Safety Orientation)
Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to candidates with one or more of the following:
- Class 1, 2, or 3 Driver's Licence.
- Air Brake (Q) Endorsement.
- Pump Operator Certification.
- Apparatus Driver/Operator Certification.
- Rope Rescue.
- Ice Rescue.
- Wildland Fire Training.
- Fire Officer Certifications.
- Fire Instructor Certifications.
- Industrial Emergency Response experience.
- Oil & Gas industry experience.
- Technical trade background.
